The Realme GT 7 Pro is here, and it feels like Realme is finally back in the flagship game. After testing countless smartphones, I will admit, it takes a lot to get me excited, but this one had my attention from the moment I unboxed it. Realme reintroduced the GT series with the GT 6 and 6T— solid mid-range phones, but not quite the flagship devices we were craving. Now, with the GT 7, Realme is stepping up its game, at least that’s what the features suggest.
The GT 7 Pro is India’s first device with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and while the specs sound impressive, what really caught my eye were the small details — the design, the camera tricks, and the everyday usability. Let’s take a closer look.
When it comes to design, the Realme GT 7 Pro grabs attention and for all the right reasons. It exudes a premium feel with its sleek glass back and slim profile. It has been launched in two colors —Mars Orange and Galaxy Grey. In this review you can see the Mars Orange variant. This colour is vibrant yet tasteful, and its soft matte finish gives it a subtle, refined look. The rear of the phone features a unique and wavy sand texture that feels both visually appealing and tactilely satisfying, though it does attract some smudges over time.
Inside the box Realme provides a black silicone case, which is good enough. For those who prefer something a little more understated, the Galaxy Grey variant offers a more muted alternative.
The GT 7 Pro features a square-shaped camera module on the back, housing three sensors and an LED light. The frame extends from the right side, and there is the Hyperimage branding, which adds a subtle yet stylish touch. It’s refreshing to see Realme stray from the usual giant circular camera modules that have become a norm in most flagship phones. Instead, the design remains sleek, premium, and straightforward, offering a no-nonsense look that feels both modern and functional.
But the GT 7 Pro isn’t just about its looks, it also feels incredibly solid and durable in hand. Around 8.55mm thick and weighing 222.8 grams, it’s on the heftier side, but the design distributes the weight well enough to make the phone comfortable to hold for extended periods. The flat metal frame enhances the grip, providing stability that curved-display phones often lack. The volume rockers and power button are conveniently placed on the right side – accessible with one hand. The bottom houses the speaker grille, SIM tray, and USB Type-C port.
One standout feature of the GT 7 Pro is its IP69 rating, which ensures dust and water resistance. This makes the phone ideal for those who lead an active lifestyle or find themselves in tough environments. The IP69 rating is rare in this price range, giving the GT 7 Pro an edge over many of its competitors.
The display on the Realme GT 7 Pro is one of the standout features of this phone. It sports a 6.78-inch OLED Plus display which offers a resolution of 2780×1264 and a 120Hz refresh rate. In simple terms, the display is sharp, vibrant, and delivers deep blacks and punchy colours. Whether you’re watching videos, playing games, or just browsing, it offers an immersive experience.
The DCI-P3 colour gamut ensures that the colours you see are rich and accurate, while the 6500 nits peak brightness makes the display easily visible even in direct sunlight — which is something I appreciated while using the phone outdoors. Plus, if you like to fine-tune your display settings, you’re in luck. The GT 7 Pro offers a range of customisable modes like adaptive tone, eye comfort, and screen colour modes, letting you personalise your viewing experience based on your needs.
The screen supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, enhancing video quality and making it ideal for watching high-definition content. I found the display to be fantastic for binge-watching web series, enjoying movies, or playing visually rich games — everything looked crisp, sharp, and vibrant. And to complement the visuals, the stereo speakers are also top-notch. They delivered rich sound that adds to the overall multimedia experience.
In short, the GT 7 Pro offers an excellent display that ticks all the right boxes, whether for entertainment or everyday use.
The Realme GT 7 Pro is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to performance. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, this phone handles everything you throw at it without breaking a sweat. My daily use included watching hours of videos, switching between social media apps like Instagram and Facebook, editing a few reels, using the camera extensively, and of course, gaming.
The phone did heat up a bit after long gaming sessions, but not in an unusual way for a flagship phone. Just to put some performance numbers to the phone, I ran some popular benchmarks, and the results were impressive. In Geekbench 6, the realme GT 7 Pro scored 3061 in the single-core test and 9379 in the multi-core test.
To put this into perspective, a high score in Geekbench means faster processing speeds and better overall efficiency. In real-world terms, this translates to quicker app launches, smoother navigation through the UI, and the ability to handle demanding tasks like video editing or running resource-heavy apps without slowing down. The single-core score of 3061 is excellent for tasks that rely on the performance of a single core, such as opening apps or browsing.
The multi-core score of 9379, on the other hand, reflects the phone’s prowess in handling multiple tasks simultaneously—ideal for gaming, multitasking, and productivity apps.
The phone also achieved an impressive Antutu score of 2,693,812. Antutu tests a range of aspects of a smartphone, from GPU performance to CPU speeds and RAM performance.
In gaming, the Realme GT 7 Pro excelled with features like AI Gaming Super Resolution and AI Gaming Super Frame. Even when you’re playing at max settings, the phone can keep up with demanding graphics without compromising on performance.
However, while playing the Genshin Impact on my phone, I noticed the phone heating up a bit after 20 minutes and there was also a sharp drop in the battery.
Talking of battery life, the Realme GT 7 Pro truly shines. With its massive 5800mAh battery, this phone is built to last. In my testing, the battery delivered exceptional endurance. In the PC Mark battery test, the device kept running for over 20 hours, which is an impressive number.
The icing on the cake is the 120W SUPERVOOC fast charging. It is very useful for anyone who’s always on the go. I could get from 0 per cent to 50 per cent in just 15 minutes, and a full charge only took about 40 minutes.
The camera setup on the Realme GT 7 Pro is one of the most impressive features of the phone. It comes with a triple camera system, including a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX906), a 50MP telephoto camera (Sony IMX882), and an 8MP ultra-wide camera (Sony IMX355).
In daylight, the primary camera is a star performer. The photos came out sharp, detailed, and rich in colours. Every shot had that punchy vibrance that makes you want to share it instantly. For example, I took a picture of a flower in my garden, and the level of detail in the petals and the texture of the leaves was remarkable.
Now, let’s talk about the telephoto lens. The 6X zoom is fantastic for capturing detailed shots without sacrificing quality. I even pushed it to 30X zoom, and while I did have to work a little to maintain focus, the results were worth it. I tested this on a pigeon perched on my balcony, and once I locked focus, the details were good enough —you could even see the patterns on its feathers! For the ultra-ambitious, there’s 120X zoom, and while the colours were a bit washed out at that level, the object remained surprisingly clear. The stabilisation was another pleasant surprise. The phone didn’t get overly shaky, even at the highest zoom levels, which is rare in most phones offering such extreme zoom.
Portrait mode also stood out for me. It offers a 3X zoom option, which I found decent for most shots. The edge detection was on point, even in tricky lighting conditions, and the background separation gave the images a professional feel. I got the best results at 2X zoom in portrait mode. It’s the sweet spot for sharp, flattering images.
One of the coolest features has to be the underwater photography mode — a first for Realme. The phone automatically activates this mode when submerged. I tried it in a tub (not quite an ocean, but it worked), and the images were fun and vibrant. However, I’d recommend sticking to short bursts — about 10-20 minutes — to be on the safe side.
Low-light performance was a bit of a mixed bag. While the night mode produced decent images, I noticed it struggled with glare, especially in scenes with bright lights, like when I clicked a picture of a traffic jam in Delhi at night. The glares were noticeable, and the phone isn’t quite the pro I’d hoped for in this area.
The Realme GT 7 Pro doesn’t just stop at great hardware, it also packs some impressive AI features to take your photos to the next level. One of my favorites is the AI Eraser, which works just like the feature you’ve seen on Pixel phones. Accidentally captured a random photobomber or an unwanted object in your shot? The AI Eraser lets you remove them with just a tap, and the results are surprisingly seamless.
Another fun addition is the AI Text-to-Image feature. It’s perfect for those moments when you want to turn a creative idea into a picture. Just type in what you want, and the AI will generate an image for you—great for adding a little extra flair to your social media posts.
Then there’s AI Blur, which comes in handy for fixing shaky or slightly off-focus images. I tested it on a couple of shots I took while walking, and it managed to salvage them, making the subjects look sharp and clear.
After using the Realme GT 7 Pro for a few weeks, I can confidently say that it lives up to its hype as one of the most powerful and feature-packed smartphones available in India. With its stunning design, exceptional display, top-tier performance, impressive battery life, and excellent camera features, the GT 7 Pro is a clear contender for one of the top flagship phones of 2024.
Realme has managed to deliver a device that not only excels in raw performance but also offers unique AI-powered features, making it a standout in the crowded flagship market. Whether you’re a gamer, photographer, or someone who just wants an all-around excellent phone, the GT 7 Pro checks a lot of boxes.
